Eleanor Winters spent four weeks this fall teaching in Hong Kong, Singapore and Jakarta. It was her third trip in three years to teach in Asia, but first time teaching in Jakarta. She reports that the students were wonderful, very enthusiastic and excited about learning calligraphy: “I think it’s relatively new over there, and interest is growing. Some students flew in from Bangkok, the Philippines and Taipei, who had taken a Spencerian class with Michael Sull previously, and wanted to learn more pointed pen, especially Copperplate Flourishing. In total, I taught 17 workshops in four weeks, six of which were Flourishing classes!”
This photo was taken at their calligraphy association get-together in October, a “Meet & Greet” welcoming Eleanor to Jakarta.
We are happy to have Eleanor back in New York City, where she’ll be teaching Italic I and Foundational this spring!
